I simply began to work again. If you remember, I'm a teacher. Yes, the reason for no posts is SCHOOL. I've been so busy I've sadly found no time to create lately... That is, unless I stop sleeping and that is just not pretty. <br />
<br />
I promise to try to be better but for now, it is what it is. I mean, triangles... two of them?? But I was determined that I was going to tackle this sketch and make something I could be proud of.. .and I think I did! <br />
<br />
Click <a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/08/mojo-monday-202-contest.html">HERE</a> for all the details on Mojo 202. Here's the sketch....<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's my take on the sketch, using one of my favorite color combos... bright pink, black, & white...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPvKXrrEevR6VB3kj2O2jVzx7r9w0Nvjqq-KLP3Hc7xHSJ1G1GIbE6CgrQBfc7mSagLmi6V1RnD7YLRyiWick5ORBDNf4f-ZFf36wWqDmCOUWYLzKH2SKywhyzwWitGoi7p7jTRJWgKruA/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPvKXrrEevR6VB3kj2O2jVzx7r9w0Nvjqq-KLP3Hc7xHSJ1G1GIbE6CgrQBfc7mSagLmi6V1RnD7YLRyiWick5ORBDNf4f-ZFf36wWqDmCOUWYLzKH2SKywhyzwWitGoi7p7jTRJWgKruA/s320/001.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div>It's hard to see in this pic, but I scored the black panel vertically at every 1/8 inch for a little extra detail. I also scored the white panel twice horizontally on the top and bottom. <br />
<em>Thanks for stopping by & looking! Have a wonderful day!</em><br />

Here's my latest take on a CAS 4 x 9 card...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI5E0YYfrof8Nsh4Dw57n3R_6vxkE3URw99yzTPdsB66WD4KreLoZ3TvJsof4UwTcdSAFLe_NV7w6jZmYtWmD2DC6pPr5c75ULciDUKFkYeI4e7f_uzCa1yPPFEDP7ergtbi3oLczDDUNT/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI5E0YYfrof8Nsh4Dw57n3R_6vxkE3URw99yzTPdsB66WD4KreLoZ3TvJsof4UwTcdSAFLe_NV7w6jZmYtWmD2DC6pPr5c75ULciDUKFkYeI4e7f_uzCa1yPPFEDP7ergtbi3oLczDDUNT/s320/005.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Wanted to use my new MS edge punch.... did the long edge of the card & added a piece of white underneath to showcase it a little more. Then I decided to do a white strip to mirror the red edge. I added a simple black satin bow & a sentiment in black... didn't show up so well because of the lack of natural light. It says "ever thankful for you." <br />
<br />
<em>Have a happy day! </em><br />

However, it took a little (okay... a LOT!) of playing around with the elements before I finally felt good about it. Here's the sketch... CONGRATS ladies on getting to sketch 150!! :) <br />

Here is the inspiration (cup)cake for this week...<br />
<img alt="" border="0" height="200" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5635336919553622002" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjudEQMCp4-9yX7fe3i4AIxagtnqhXtQIfssQSW2uqrOLmKAlBpiMT6tYTO82idi5luVAkr3eiiQbVRk9-Lo6pVi-KHiN7HhlOwJNDvnu4mQx9NUbfScugrHZ8YcjH53mYydY4hjEZLYM7/s200/CIC121.png" style="display: block; height: 336px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 291px;" width="173" /><br />
I was very inspired by all those shades of purple and the many circles used in this photo. Of course, I needed a pop of green in there as well. <br />
<br />
Here's the card...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiin0Gz6XKLHpGQQSxNB2N-JlcmX_W33BdbXoYcotcEZQPbx4nNt3AhP5-0Oy6ZC-i-JGFlKdN6j6Bb5FmiBOmOTpm9rl1S9WkfYycTmEsL-pu6zc2PaMs-9OORu5y4fBncTggV6gsdBWBD/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiin0Gz6XKLHpGQQSxNB2N-JlcmX_W33BdbXoYcotcEZQPbx4nNt3AhP5-0Oy6ZC-i-JGFlKdN6j6Bb5FmiBOmOTpm9rl1S9WkfYycTmEsL-pu6zc2PaMs-9OORu5y4fBncTggV6gsdBWBD/s320/005.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div> Here's a close up shot of the dimension I added to give it a little "oomph"...<br />

<br />
As I said in my last post, I'm loving the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. You can click <a href="http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/2011/07/cas-ual-fridays-challenge-cfc13.html">HERE</a> to see this week's challenge... The Long & Short of It. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitNFKvpTBNGcnXc5KPINl2op3UgnM1miI-D9nrTgLqFjaEyC1F3iJjinaS-WSm-6GrtelvBplSJXaOmvKNCai255sSm0byEFpzRO_sblcVF9YysBLPgGJlMtmOBhDIdFYPGIdkon8Rvgw/s1600/FotoFlexer_PhotoCFC13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitNFKvpTBNGcnXc5KPINl2op3UgnM1miI-D9nrTgLqFjaEyC1F3iJjinaS-WSm-6GrtelvBplSJXaOmvKNCai255sSm0byEFpzRO_sblcVF9YysBLPgGJlMtmOBhDIdFYPGIdkon8Rvgw/s200/FotoFlexer_PhotoCFC13.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
So, I was actually inspired to make two cards for this challenge... below is my second entry. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8k2pnJN-c6D0h3vX7AHFxVe2iA3MAXb25R5B9gk3tNQ5v9ip1kXFCKPaSyAIiloXzY2YvTM1NTM3DHkKMepquQhMwrxdmA7422xoReuxEhUC2l9H9PDAtQrSuniRwVOUzYVZuhpRIzglx/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8k2pnJN-c6D0h3vX7AHFxVe2iA3MAXb25R5B9gk3tNQ5v9ip1kXFCKPaSyAIiloXzY2YvTM1NTM3DHkKMepquQhMwrxdmA7422xoReuxEhUC2l9H9PDAtQrSuniRwVOUzYVZuhpRIzglx/s320/007.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Again, I started with a kraft 4 x9 base. (Can you say 'addict'???) I corner rounded the bottom corners to give it a little polishing. I used some black satin ribbon around the middle. I adhered that gorgeous ruffled flower ribbon where the edges overlapped. I kept the rest simple by stamping the sentiment "just for you" in black. (The stamp is from the dollar bin at Michael's during a recent trip!) I thought this card offered lots of recipient opportunities! :) </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjivDMlw1zoQQ9CsJtTzAELVN9X610oFxoqfaxKPh7haCz9tl4EwxZz8LGTwdE8eT3TwIC451qc0jXgP8FNruyboKOewzxu2Aa-GrkTSpEW2bLZSgGoX5LlqHxCtcT51LYRqbZy3Oj_3ABA/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjivDMlw1zoQQ9CsJtTzAELVN9X610oFxoqfaxKPh7haCz9tl4EwxZz8LGTwdE8eT3TwIC451qc0jXgP8FNruyboKOewzxu2Aa-GrkTSpEW2bLZSgGoX5LlqHxCtcT51LYRqbZy3Oj_3ABA/s320/008.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div> This gorgeous book print ruffled flower was made by Nina Dee. I won it (and 2 others) in a giveaway on her blog. You can visit her blog by clicking <a href="http://deesignsbyninadee.blogspot.com/">HERE</a>. You can read about how to make a flower like this (via Nina's picture tutorial) by clicking <a href="http://deesignsbyninadee.blogspot.com/2011/06/ruffle-flower-deerections.html">HERE</a>. Her blog is fabulous... I know you'll find lots of inspiration there! Thanks, Nina, for such a beautiful handmade embellishment! :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4VZJVQqxa1vJg9lCDkYiBf8-uoNP0mp5pDd9lliZ4jy_G5ybWtoYySZwEybPUtRwMTa1tb_v6ypDXXrzUUPKowHdSIx3ZG282VhXegqTf1zMNLTKTr4VDRg-rfWT9fzXcS_-x3DkpUSOw/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4VZJVQqxa1vJg9lCDkYiBf8-uoNP0mp5pDd9lliZ4jy_G5ybWtoYySZwEybPUtRwMTa1tb_v6ypDXXrzUUPKowHdSIx3ZG282VhXegqTf1zMNLTKTr4VDRg-rfWT9fzXcS_-x3DkpUSOw/s320/009.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div>Yet another view of this clean & simple card! <br />
<br />

They really make me think and expand my comfort zone, all while working on perfecting that wonderful CAS style! :) <br />
<br />

<br />
So, I made a 4 x 9 card last week for my brother-in-law's birthday... turned out pretty well for a masculine card. This week I made a more feminine version for a loved one...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzL5SyXaisqDwkYAWr6W-pyDvPopOWGcqyd6nT8pRa6gQsyJ2hFLLjOFA2i0gWeNv0m4dC31yI9AtgxRFmtfYd52QsdRQhdghkspqXjH11az844GKmsu0Gsue2UoHHfL8ZY4yqTcWxcOIH/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzL5SyXaisqDwkYAWr6W-pyDvPopOWGcqyd6nT8pRa6gQsyJ2hFLLjOFA2i0gWeNv0m4dC31yI9AtgxRFmtfYd52QsdRQhdghkspqXjH11az844GKmsu0Gsue2UoHHfL8ZY4yqTcWxcOIH/s320/005.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div> If you know me, you know I LOVE hearts! I started with a kraft 4 x 9 base. I used the small SU heart punch to punch out lots of white cardstock hearts. I punched out one red heart to make it 'pop'; I also used a dimensional to make it literally 'pop' out, as you can see from the close up picture below. The stamp I used really reads "because I love you MOM", but I wanted to keep it more general for future use, so I masked the "MOM" part out. <em>(I DO love both my mom & mother-in-law, but this just makes for more options in the future! :) )</em> I also paper pierced a small row of dots under the sentiment to bring a little more attention to it since the card is so very simple. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbl-lYyriKD3MNXny59fcl_d-m8BpKIS0zjpRBRXkHCcE3xWBg7_dFcGVAdRVdL1gWE0N8B5DcZpPoMJtBlVqBHRYzPANQsZmTGKItEGyK9l20pd-vwbkTsuErnLQQBSqe4gFI-SFXk-fj/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbl-lYyriKD3MNXny59fcl_d-m8BpKIS0zjpRBRXkHCcE3xWBg7_dFcGVAdRVdL1gWE0N8B5DcZpPoMJtBlVqBHRYzPANQsZmTGKItEGyK9l20pd-vwbkTsuErnLQQBSqe4gFI-SFXk-fj/s320/006.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div>The stamp is a rubber cling from Michael's by Studio G. Here's the close up of the sentiment, popped up red heart, and paper piercing. <br />
<br />
I am also entering this card into Pals Paper Arts Challenge 104 (PPA104): Paper Piercing & CAS. You can visit their site <a href="http://www.palspaperarts.com/2011/07/ppa104-cas-elements-of-style-paper-piercing.html">here</a> to get all of the details of this challenge! :)<br />
<br />
I love how this card turned out! What do you think? <br />
<br />
<em>Thanks for stopping by & for your comments! Have a fabulous weekend!</em><br />

<br />
<a href="http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2011/07/challenge-56-clean-and-simple-sketch.html">The Paper Players Challenge #56</a> was just that for me this week... a challenge! I LOVE clean & simple designs... but for whatever reason, this sketch had me puzzled for a bit. After lots of playing around with it... and an hour's worth of "The Closer"... here's what I came up with! <br />
<br />
The sketch...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D-CI_I79-LI/TfrpQQIrgrI/AAAAAAAAFUg/0yQbCyZNpUM/s1600/AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D-CI_I79-LI/TfrpQQIrgrI/AAAAAAAAFUg/0yQbCyZNpUM/s200/AM.png" width="200" /></a><br />

<br />
As much as I LOVE circles, I chose to be square today for <a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/07/mojo-monday-201.html">Mojo Monday's Sketch Challenge 201</a>! To be honest, I really wanted to try the circle, but since I don't have any dies, it would require the use of my cricut, which I was afraid would wake up my baby from her nap in it's current position. Squares, of course, only require a little cutting on the paper cutter... so a square it is!! :) <br />
<br />
Here's the sketch...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP1opex7_PRyXhwgwZwVQDO-O534L3Ey2BouTnzt2eo89h8LFmpfAZbvaFI28pEuJ1UK_cjQGrHdWsxmkylDZ17j6RuEUUAmpAeM8ASTUolVPdCyxrVRdL7xYkzSUGUVwDYM5O5sRYXhJY/s1600/Mojo201Sketch.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="120" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP1opex7_PRyXhwgwZwVQDO-O534L3Ey2BouTnzt2eo89h8LFmpfAZbvaFI28pEuJ1UK_cjQGrHdWsxmkylDZ17j6RuEUUAmpAeM8ASTUolVPdCyxrVRdL7xYkzSUGUVwDYM5O5sRYXhJY/s200/Mojo201Sketch.gif" width="200" /></a><br />
Here's my take, using one of my favorite color combos... bright pink, black, & white! :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP5YEM_DVBLsfw40wYj7BuzRhs3uo9rSrrH96B75g8l-l17A3VBYZAz_ejbcZLnVNXCycLTF7pZLJXizXWWdLKp4Ju0y57e-fXf4NpzDDNy1yl31iiCaRBSo9X6m862xCRNnNdPR8rEFl7/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP5YEM_DVBLsfw40wYj7BuzRhs3uo9rSrrH96B75g8l-l17A3VBYZAz_ejbcZLnVNXCycLTF7pZLJXizXWWdLKp4Ju0y57e-fXf4NpzDDNy1yl31iiCaRBSo9X6m862xCRNnNdPR8rEFl7/s320/014.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div>I think the only thing I changed from the sketch was to make my "tag" a circle... I wanted to play on the embossing, polka dots, & round gems I used on the card. <br />
<br />

This week Cupcake Inspirations has TWO cupcake inspiration images for their <a href="http://cupcakeinspirations.blogspot.com/2011/07/challenge-120.html">Challenge 120</a>.<br />
<br />
From this one, I really took the pastel colors- pinks, purples, and such.<br />
<img alt="" border="0" height="180" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5632655101029386146" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV0BYhqDEmR-skfG6nREitxMaG9SC7FV6USd4Vt_2MqWIyeKY_TSMOPZsGsVaO4Z5YqbMqSemDK0sKRz5DKryuNTUQNwTwcMA19y822xB_PvE_gI26mpMn9lLUXgMiu-Xverz7XaJ9-lRH/s200/CIC120.png" style="display: block; height: 313px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 346px;" width="200" /><br />

Here's the card I made... a little square card... I love how the sentiment plays off the 4 squrares I used on the design! :) <br />

I used only some Making Memories stickers & my trusty Cuttlebug for this card... very clean & simple, indeed! <br />
<br />
<br />

They are helping me expand my creativity & cardmaking abilities. When I got on this morning and saw this week's challenge- rub ons & stickers- I knew it would <em>truly</em> be a challenge for me. One reason I prefer cardmaking to scrapbooking is because you can do so much with stamps and you don't need to rely on stickers, alphabets, and rub-ons so much. I think many are beautiful, but they also tend to be an added expense for this frugal stamper. However, during my last trip to Michael's, I bought some value packs of Making Memories embellishments that were on clearance... since I can't resist a good deal, I bought them. After a quick look, I found some rub-ons to try that were in those large packs of embellishments. So... here's my attempt at using rub-ons. I kept it very clean & simple... and I actually made two! :) <br />

Two Ways<a href="http://www.palspaperarts.com/2011/07/ppa103-sketch-challenge.html">Pals Paper Arts</a> is having a sketch challenge for PPA103. Here's the sketch...<br />

<br />
I used this sketch to create my card two different ways... one in the orientiation shown above & one with the same exact elements but flipped 180 degrees.<br />

I made the following cards in sets of 4 for an upcoming family reunion of my husband's. At this particular reunion, they always have a 'live' auction of goodies brought by the entire family. I've made handmade greeting cards for the past several years, and they've always fetched a pretty penny to go towards the next year's reunion. Here's hoping they do the same this year...<br />

here's the photo inspiration...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://studiostampers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/inspiration-photo2.jpg"><img alt="" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-127" height="320" src="http://studiostampers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/inspiration-photo2.jpg" title="inspiration photo" width="213" /></a><br />
<br />
I was inspired to make a flower using a technique I saw on <a href="http://deesignsbyninadee.blogspot.com/">Nina Dee's blog</a>... here's her card that got me thinking about technique...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7GH17m13Zz6qmlZsKLW-CctcE-k2qCALMpm9SuZ7zT8WbOV5IuNSU12nvCK4Xtc-hj9WZe9UrpDmQPIxdDXG5dZp4Vl9yPj8Vmvyx_juDJap7x_gPGsch-72GL1TbYVNSEZODc9yi5PM/s320/IMG_1560w.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7GH17m13Zz6qmlZsKLW-CctcE-k2qCALMpm9SuZ7zT8WbOV5IuNSU12nvCK4Xtc-hj9WZe9UrpDmQPIxdDXG5dZp4Vl9yPj8Vmvyx_juDJap7x_gPGsch-72GL1TbYVNSEZODc9yi5PM/s320/IMG_1560w.JPG" style="cursor: hand; height: 160px; width: 120px;" /></a><br />
<br />
I wanted to try using SU's itty bitty punch pack to make a larger, hydrangea looking flower. Though the flower at the top isn't a hydrangea, I like all the delicate little flowers on the top right. <br />
<br />
I also used the current <a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/card-sketches-f41/sketch-challenge-342-7-20-11-a-t533407.html">Splitcoast card sketch</a> (SC342) for inspiration...<br />

<br />
Hmmm... Mojo Monday on a Tuesday for the 3rd week in a row... I think I'm seeing a pattern. :) <br />
<br />
<a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/07/mojo-monday-200.html">Mojo Monday</a> is celebrating their 200th sketch challenge- CONGRATULATIONS! I know I enjoy their sketches weekly and am just BLOWN AWAY by the talent that is showcased there. Excellent inspiration, for sure! <br />
<br />
Here's this week's sketch...<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I followed the sketch pretty well, except for the bow. It just didn't work once I had that flower put together on the card. But, I AM pleased with how it turned out, so... oh well! :) <br />
<br />
Here's the card...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_cxRilM2aQzX01waXDF9xH_PyT9GcIy17gGwG3Eo63JJkU2tu2mBM0yNRgvA9rA_7GcuiCPRjpy1eSxBnqkFit9yPxt2eYj2NzelBg8_UMZvmJIk3VmXrb6sfegAcIlPwZfblKFEs8R_/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_cxRilM2aQzX01waXDF9xH_PyT9GcIy17gGwG3Eo63JJkU2tu2mBM0yNRgvA9rA_7GcuiCPRjpy1eSxBnqkFit9yPxt2eYj2NzelBg8_UMZvmJIk3VmXrb6sfegAcIlPwZfblKFEs8R_/s320/001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Sorry for the picture quality... even though it's day light & there's natural light... it's a bit overcast, which is not making for the best photo op for the card. :( The card base is white & is matted with kraft that has been embossed with Swiss Dots. I used some striped paper from my stash mounted on olive green cardstock for the long rectangular piece. I used a MS eyelet punch on the edge. I used the SU Build a Blossom Punch for the flower (cut out in white) and inked the edges with a sponge in Pretty in Pink. I used some sheer white ribbon edged in satin from top to bottom. The sentiment is from ditto by studio g & says "lots of hugs." I stamped it in chocolate chip & used my blender pen to color in "hugs" with pretty in pink. I matted the sentiment on a chocolate square. I'll probably keep this card in my stash for my mother-in-law, who is going through chemo treatments right now. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div align="left">Thanks for stopping by! </div><div align="left"><em>I'd love to hear your comments! <br />
I got lots of inspiration today from <a href="http://cupcakeinspirations.blogspot.com/2011/07/challenge-119.html">Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 119</a>... <br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5630133190647938786" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO3iAnkGloKFs1oZ7UCwnCHlkIVscndvB1bIKtvOk8Sipcb3lRSb3ITPY_aF5tGqfQ7c1FxdT3vAMu5cmR1bRPe9AawPhSs75aC3TUF9Rku6PuCYL9cPrzM-JScZRBThxR6rokULdfzTai/s400/CIC119.png" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 299px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 399px;" /><br />
I thought about going for the princess theme & even got my stamp set out and ready... but I just couldn't resist the big pink flower and the green from the frog...<br />
<br />
I also got a little inspiration from the sketch at <a href="http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com/2011/07/149.html">Clean & Simple Stamping- FTL 149</a>. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDfTWDJZr4PVxyGpbDd3SofgS6vAxU9LK67RJpNoygI3HrYW3REsOua52Clkyp9j_FPSWgt5nPl1Q83D5DnAN9Dcv36d90-4qcgLLFO7RXeReHdvkGF8rC4Qu3kvSTMBBflWJbmWzY3Wri/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDfTWDJZr4PVxyGpbDd3SofgS6vAxU9LK67RJpNoygI3HrYW3REsOua52Clkyp9j_FPSWgt5nPl1Q83D5DnAN9Dcv36d90-4qcgLLFO7RXeReHdvkGF8rC4Qu3kvSTMBBflWJbmWzY3Wri/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>As you can see, I did add a little extra banner to the card for my sentiment (since it just DIDN'T work the other way) and made the card *almost* square to let the banner hang off a little. I think it looks super sweet! :) <br />
<br />
Here's the sketch... (I also turned it on its side)<br />
<br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629419017078934530" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiywtGSjeSZXkpTbn9wRozPhl4jJTnEjsI7sp8FGeIefZzA-6jwzwzL9y_EB28kqXBcHM3yRyPbeheAYxoSWmsy3fFv1qwh7gVKFW9UgMYdLcqUf9Da_GKpnIjJaAsdUJYz9t7l7rzrO5gR/s400/FTL149ed.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 309px;" /><br />

I hope you are enjoying your day and staying cool... that's what my baby girl & I are trying to do here! :) <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.palspaperarts.com/2011/07/ppa102-summertime-and-the-livin-is-easy-especially-with-blog-candy.html">Pals Paper Arts Challenge 102 (PPA102)</a> is going on now... the challenge is to create something that says summer to you! Well, I drew my inspiration for this challenge directly from my husband & daughter. They are both in LOVE with Popsicles. The most recent box conquered were Jolly Rancher Popsicles...so I quickly grabbed the box from the recycling bin so I could copy their "look." I turned it into a friendship card I thought I could send to a longtime friend I saw the other day. :) <br />

We've been busy. On Friday, we took our 2-year-old to see "Winnie the Pooh" at the theater. She's been asking about it since she first saw the preview. CUTE movie... with lots of little bits of clever humor that only adults will get and appreciate. :) My husband, daughter, & I also took a weekend trip to a golf resort that has been a tradition in my husband's family for the past 3 decades. We had a wonderful time, but we've all been a bit tired today... I guess we need a vacation from our vacation! <br />
<br />
As I've been relaxing all day today, I thought I'd share some cards I made last week for the fall. At my school, I am in charge of sending cards to my fellow teachers & colleagues when the occasion calls for it... can't imagine how I got nominate for this job, huh? :) Sooooo, since the school year is crazy BUSY, I've been making a stock of thinking of you cards, get well cards, and such. I DON'T enjoy making sympathy cards, though they are unfortunately part of the stash I need to build up. So, last week I tackled the challenge of creating some for use at school when the need arises. Here's what I came up with...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbG564dXbUkw8tHzn5IzQd1G7rChGk0AIMAl-fHPBOPFkjAOo6hyCAqWtvRONziY17e58E9h-AGYikxHHkn-V9LMO_copCRo8QLnG5kDqOxrpVtEPwtEtKe-q9xInCLU8RtVrNm6bVvrzG/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbG564dXbUkw8tHzn5IzQd1G7rChGk0AIMAl-fHPBOPFkjAOo6hyCAqWtvRONziY17e58E9h-AGYikxHHkn-V9LMO_copCRo8QLnG5kDqOxrpVtEPwtEtKe-q9xInCLU8RtVrNm6bVvrzG/s320/009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This last card is one for a Christmas in July challenge that I just didn't make the deadline for... I had the card ready in time, but I didn't get it uploaded and linked in time. Oh well! I still like the way it turned out. I've been looking for a design I like to make some holiday cards for our local Hospice chapter. Last year, a group of my card friends & I made cards for them. Collectively, our group made enough cards to send to the over 200 hospice patients they had at the time! Every single patient received one of our handmade cards. The coordinator told us that for many of the patients, ours would be the ONLY card they received. That just blows me away! So... I've been trying to work on some Christmas cards this summer so I can contribute more this year to the cause. <em>What can you do to make a difference in your community? :)</em></div><br />

<br />
Deesigns by Nina Dee has an <a href="http://deesignsbyninadee.blogspot.com/2011/07/i-heart-ribbon-challenge-6.html">I Heart Ribbon Challenge</a>... you know I'm going to love that, right? Of course!! This week, it's about using LOTS of ribbon. NOT a problem for me... I have LOTS to choose from. (I know this for SURE because I spent HOURS today reorganzing it all.)<br />
<br />
My dear friend Becky showed me how to make these cards. I used my cricut to cut otu the heart and then laid out ribbon to "fill up" the cut out part. To cover up the 'messy' inside, I just added a piece of white cardstock on the inside. Here are a few I made... all with ribbon scraps I had! The entirety of every 'heart' is made of ribbon, along with the accent ribbon on the sides. A few buttons top off the cards. I left the inside blank so I could stamp the appropriate sentiment when I need to pull one of these out! <br />
